VELO x McLaren F1 Team Experience - Promotion Terms and Conditions
These terms govern the VELO x McLaren F1 Team Experience Promotion (the “Promotion”) (the “Terms”).
1. The Promoter of this Promotion is British American Tobacco (UK) Limited, Building 7, Chiswick Business Park, 566 Chiswick High Road, London, England, W4 5YG (“BAT”). By entering this Promotion, you are agreeing to be bound by these Terms.
2. The Promotion is only open to entries from (i) residents of Great Britain (excluding Northern Ireland); (ii) who are aged 18 and over; (iii) current nicotine users; and (iv) existing account holders on Velo.com/gb.
3. The following are not eligible to participate:
(a) employees of BAT or of any British American Tobacco plc group company; or
(b) employees or any other persons involved or assisting with this Promotion or otherwise professionally connected with the Promotion or its administration (including but not limited to, any person responsible for redemption of prizes or for supplying prizes for the Promotion).
4. The Promotion opens at 10:00 on 14th May 2025 and closes at 17:00 on 30th June 2025 (the “Promotion Period”). There will be one (1) winner of the Promotion and the winner will be selected in accordance with paragraph 15.
5. To enter the Promotion, entrants must:
(a) be a UK resident (excluding Northern Ireland);
(b) be 18 years old or over;
(c) be an existing nicotine user;
(d) be registered with a Velo account on velo.com/gb;
(e) enter the Promotion by placing a bid on the Prize using their Velo+ points; and
(f) comply with any other eligibility and entry requirements set out in these Terms.
6. An eligible entrant may enter the Promotion multiple times, subject to the number of Velo+ points available on their account.
7. BAT reserves the right to validate any claim and may ask for proof of identity and/or age of any entrant at any point. BAT accepts no liability for any delays to or prevention of an entrant from participating in the Promotion by exercising its right to validate the identity and/or address and/or age of an entrant.
8. All entries must be made directly by the person entering the Promotion. Entries made using methods such as a computer macro, a script or the use of automated devices or processes are not allowed, and all such entries will be disqualified. BAT is not responsible for changes to any entrant's details after entering the Promotion, including changes to the entrant's Instagram handle, email address or phone number.
9. Entries must be received by BAT by no later than 17:00 on 30th June 2025 ("Promotion End Date"). Entries made outside of the Promotion End Date will not be accepted.
10. The amount of Velo+ points used to place a bid to enter the Promotion will be deducted from the entrant's Velo+ points balance at the time the bid is made.
11. An entrant will be able to see that their bid has been placed by checking their Velo account transactions. Entrants will not be notified if their bid has been taken over by a higher bid, but entrants will be able to view the highest bid on the Promotion page of the Velo website.
12. An entrant may withdraw their bid from the Promotion at any time during the Promotion Period by contacting BAT via Velocompetitions@bat.com.
13. An entrant will automatically receive a refund of the Velo+ points they have used to enter the Promotion to their Velo account if:
(a) their bid is taken over by a higher bid from another entrant;
(b) they withdraw their bid from the Promotion in accordance with paragraph 12; or
(c) they are not the winner of the Promotion (see paragraph 15).
Prize
14. There will be one prize which includes two (2) tickets to VELO x McLaren Formula 1 Team Experience in Britain at the Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone ("Prize").
14.1 The Prize includes:
(a) Admission of the winner, and one (1) guest who must be aged 18+ and an existing nicotine user, to the VELO x McLaren Formula 1 Team Experience in Britain at the Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone for Sunday 6th July 2025.
(b) The Prize also includes return shuttle from specific locations in London to the Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone.
(c) Food & Drinks during specific times at Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone.
14.2 The Prize excludes:
(a) Spending money;
(b) Travel to destination other than specified in 14.1
(c) Accommodation
(d) Expense for additional food and drink;
(e) Tax or personal expenses;
(f) Travel insurance and travel expenses;
(g) Other activities and any other costs incurred in addition to those set out above and any costs that are incidental to the prize are the responsibility of the winner.
Prize claim notification
15. The winner of the Promotion will be the entrant who has placed the highest bid on the Prize (using their Velo+ points) by 17:00 on 30th June 2025.
16. The winner will be notified by 1st July 2025, firstly via email to the email address associated with the winner’s Velo account. If the winner does not reply to such email, BAT may attempt to contact the winner via their phone number (if provided at the time of entry).
17. In order to redeem the Prize, the winner will need to respond to the email or message sent to them by BAT within 72 hours of the date of the initial email or message, providing the requested information to BAT. Please check your email including spam folder, text messages, and Instagram direct, messages carefully to ensure that you do not miss a message from Velocompetitions@bat.com.
18. If the winner does not respond to BAT with the required information within 72 hours of notification (as set out in paragraph 17), then the winner will forfeit the Prize and BAT will be entitled to award the Prize to an alternative entrant who placed the second highest bid on the Prize (using their Velo+ points).
19. If the winner responds to the message from BAT within the required timeframe (as set out in paragraph 17), the Prize will be sent via an e-ticket format to the email address associated with the winner's Velo account.
20. There is no cash alternative, and the Prize is not transferable or exchangeable. Alternative dates are not available. There is no legal right for the winner to change their mind in respect of the Prize.
21. If for any reason the winner decides not to take up any part of the Prize (e.g. transfers) they must inform BAT as soon as possible in writing. Once the winner has confirmed this, they cannot change their mind or request reinstatement of that part of the Prize. Unused elements of the Prize cannot be exchanged for cash, credit, or any other alternative. BAT reserves the right to review, edit, alter or remove any entry in its sole discretion, which does not comply with these Terms or which it reasonably believes does not comply with these Terms.
22. BAT reserves the right to exclude any entries which it believes to be fraudulent or based on misconduct, or if, in its reasonable opinion, it considers that there is a significant risk that the entrant may bring the BAT or any other British American Tobacco plc group company brand into disrepute.
23. BAT reserves the right to amend, terminate or temporarily suspend the Promotion if, in its absolute discretion, it considers it necessary to do so. BAT shall not exercise this right unreasonably.
24. If BAT:
(a) removes or excludes an entry (as set out in paragraphs 22 and 23), BAT will notify the relevant entrant by email and refund the Velo+ points used to bid to enter the Promotion to the entrant's account;
(b) terminates the Promotion (as set out in paragraph 24), BAT will notify entrants by email and refund the Velo+ points used to bid to enter the Promotion to the entrants' accounts;
(c) amends the Promotion (as set out in paragraph 24), BAT will notify affected entrants by email as soon as practicable. If an entrant does not agree with the amendment, they may contact BAT via Velocompetitions@bat.com to withdraw from the Promotion and BAT will refund the Velo+ points used to bid to enter the Promotion to the entrant's account;
(d) suspends the Promotion (as set out in paragraph 24), BAT will notify entrants by email as soon as practicable and refund the Velo+ points used to bid to enter the Promotion to the entrants' accounts.
25. BAT will not be liable for any internet or mobile connection or other charges incurred in entering the Promotion or in the winner using or enjoying the Prize. If using a computer or any other device and/or internet-access which is not owned or paid for by the entrant, the entrant is reminded to get the owner's permission before entering.
26. BAT does not guarantee continuous uninterrupted access to the VELO.com e-commerce page at any time. It is possible that numerous factors outside the control of BAT may interfere with the operation of the platform. No responsibility will be accepted by BAT for any technical or other difficulties in entering the Promotion or for any incomplete, invalid, illegible, delayed or corrupted entries.
27. Failure of a winner to follow the deadlines and other instructions of BAT at any stage of the Promotion and Prize fulfilment process (whether or not communicated via an agent) may result (in BAT's sole discretion) in the Prize being withheld and the winner's claim being judged void for all purposes.
28. BAT reserves the right to change the Prize or any part of it if, in its absolute discretion, it considers it necessary to do so for reasons beyond its control. BAT shall not exercise this right unreasonably and will not be responsible to the winner for any compensation as a result. BAT will notify the winner of any changes required to the Prize or any part of it.
29. Insofar as is permitted by law, BAT, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable:
(a) to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize (except where it is caused by the negligence of BAT, its agents or distributors or that of their employees);
(b) for any taxes, fees, charges or other costs which the winner may be required to pay in connection with the Prize (save to the extent expressly accepted by BAT in the Terms);
(c) for any unexpected losses, i.e. if it was not obvious that it would happen (so, in the law, the loss was unforeseeable);
(d) for any unavoidable losses, i.e. something you could have avoided by taking reasonable action, including following our reasonable instructions;
(e) for delays outside of its control and is not responsible for any losses you suffer as a result of such a delay. BAT will do what it can to reduce any delay.
Nothing in these Terms will limit BAT's liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence or for fraud, or any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. This does not affect your statutory rights.
30. Personal data supplied during the course of this Promotion will only be processed as set out in BAT's privacy policy, available at https://www.velo.com/gb/en/privacy-policy. Please also see paragraph 33 in relation to BAT’s obligations with regards to the announcement of winners.
31. Any enquiries about personal information held by BAT, including any request for deletion of personal data, may be made by contacting Velocompetitions@bat.com to obtain the contact name and address to which to send an envelope marked "Data Protection Request".
32. Subject to paragraphs 31 and 32 and without prejudice to BAT's data protection obligations under relevant law, BAT must make available information that indicates that a valid award under this Promotion took place and so BAT will send the surname and county of all of the winners of this Promotion to anyone who contacts BAT using the details in paragraph 32 requesting such information within one month of the Promotion End Date.
33. If you object to any or all of your surname or county being made available in accordance with paragraph 33, please contact BAT via Velocompetitions@bat.com. In such circumstances, BAT must still provide the information set out in paragraph 32 to the Advertising Standards Authority upon request.
34. We are under a duty to supply the Prize to the winner in conformity with these Terms. Nothing in these Terms will affect your legal rights. For detailed information regarding your legal rights please visit the Citizens Advice website www.citizensadvice.org.uk.
35. If you have any questions or complaints in relation to the Promotion, please contact BAT via Velocompetitions@bat.com.
36. These Terms are between you and us. Nobody else can enforce it and neither of us will need to ask anybody else to sign-off on ending or changing it.
37. If a court or other authority decides that some of these Terms are unlawful, the rest will continue to apply.
38. These Terms are governed by English law and wherever you live you can bring claims against us in the English courts. If you live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims against us in the courts of the country you live in. We can claim against you in the courts of the country you live in.
